@kdfrawg hmmmm. True. But that kinda points to Apple running their own ad platform which would be shared by all the apps installed on my phone, right? That's something they've tried and failed at.

@jws but VPN is so painful! My office wifi keeps dropping VPN between routers. I end up in limbo where as soon as I disconnect VPN, I get all my notifications. I would really prefer a hosts file. I was using one when my iPhone was jailbroken.

@matigo yeah… Indian NGOs have especially come under fire for handing out exorbitant salaries to C-level execs, just because. It's a shame that such a good tool is so easy misused.
The revelations around Accuweather show that iOS seriously needs a hosts-file style blocking capability. Now, more than ever! The problem, of course, is that users will use the same to block ads too, which will hurt almost every app on iOS.
